Our Mothers Celebrate

Dancing with Joy

The month of May all around the world is marked as the day to celebrate mothers. Mother s play a vital role in our lives starting from when they carry us in their wombs for nine whole months to the time of delivery, nursing us into adulthood. The part they play can never be overemphasized and so should be shown love for the care they radiate.

Festac women set the ball rolling

The festac branch of the assemblies of God Nigeria celebrate annually mother’s day in grand style with a lot of activities ranging from cultural display to culinary exhibition , recitations, drama and a lot of merry making. The women use this occasion to raise money for the welfare arm of the women department by auctioning the various delicacies prepared by different ethnic groups.

Cutting of the Cake

One of the highlights of the day is when women born in the month of may are called out to be celebrated with the cutting of a special cake for the occasion with their husbands cheering on amid singing and dancing. It is indeed a day for women to rejoice and bask in the love and attention showered them by their families and friends.

Sweet sweet mother!
My Sweet Mother
The Mummy G O of Apapa District Women.
The song writer  who wrote the song “sweet mother” could not have written a better song suited for the mothers and their worth in our lives because regardless of the time it was written, it always brings a lot of fond memories of the role a mother plays in the lives of her children. My mum is one of such mothers and i celebrate with her for not just being the best mother in the world but also marking her 60th birthday on that day as well. To every mother and potential mother out there HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY as i believe all mothers should be celebrated everyday.

the day was a very colourful one  as attires ranged from the yoruba traditional attire to the igbo george, the hausa as well as the calabars were not left out amid other cultural attires.
Happy children in native attire.

the teachers and parents were also dressed up to support their pupils and children

Parents graced the occasion and cheered their wards as they performed. The children made presentations in the various languages taught in the school’s curriculum.

Giving a presentation.

In the spirit of the day, the head master emphasized the need for unity even in our diverse cultures highlighting that most cultures have alot incommon hence the need for every culture to respect and appreciate one another.
Children are taught to appreciate the unity in diverse culture even at an early age so that the future of Nigeria will be secured and animocity eradicated
Nigeria is a country with diverse ethnic groups and with the current happenings with Boko Haram, there is the need for us all to work together for the greater good and show our children that we are indeed one Nigeria

unity in diversity.

Parents expressed their delight at the success of the event and also commended the proprietor for a job well done in the care given to their children while under the care of the school.

The Culture day celebration was brought to a close with the presentation of certificates to all the pupils advancing to new classes

FAMILY TIME OUT.

The holidays are here again and the time every parent should  take advantage of in bonding with their kids.
Most times parents because of work schedule spend very little and in most cases no time at all with their children.

The advent of the new media has made the world a global village and hence making readily available at the click of a button information that can help as well as harm the child.
it is for this reason tht parents need be more observant. This can only be achieved when quality time is spent with our children.

MAKE THEM YOUR FRIEND

Children today especially teenagers spend a considerable portion of their time with their peers and so can get easily influenced.
parents will only know this and be in the position to guide the child aright when they make their children their friends and confidant.

TAKE THEM SITE SEEING

Our choice of location when taking them out also matters. it should not only be about eating and having fun alone, rather it should also be an educative trip.
The trip could be to the national museum, badagry where they can learn about how slave trade started and ended, they could be taken to the olumo rock and other fun places.
the interesting thing about this is that as a parent, the trip will afford us the opportunity to relax and get to know more about ourselves and kids in a relaxing and fun environment, more over it relieves stress in the long run and gives us longer life span.

REST IS GOOD

In all, though it is so much fun for the kids, it is actually the best medicine for us as parents.  so, why wait, take your children out this holiday season and give them a fabulous holiday present - YOU!
